Danielle L. Ruffin was born in a single family home in Aurora, Illinois- a far western suburb of Chicago. At an early age, Danielle knew that small-town living was not for her, so she set out to travel the world and experience other places, languages, and cultures. Although her family was and continues to be very supportive of her in all of her endeavors, she quickly realized that the lifestyle that she desired was not possible on the income that her family was accustomed to.
Therefore, at the tender age of 14, Danielle embarked on her first business venture: selling rice crispy treats from her high school book bag. With the little success she experienced from this venture, she then went on to join her first network marketing company at the age of 18. However, even though she was in college at the time learning subjects like economics and communication, those skills learned in the classroom did not translate to success and know-how in her business.
Nevertheless, facing two business failures did not stop her from trying again two years later after returning home from a year of study in France. The company was new and exciting, and the product was something she undoubtedly loved anyway: travel. With this company, Danielle generated several hundred, sometimes thousands of dollars per month all from her college dorm room on an extremely part time basis. Danielle learned and implemented a key strategy that the wealthy practice: finding a mentor. Working with her coach and mentor, Dani Johnson, Danielle gained personal and business skills that have since enriched her life immensely.
After graduating from college in 2008, in an effort to put her expensive secondary education to good use, Danielle embarked on a new journey that would take her to the other side of the world. This time, South Korea was her chosen destination. Mission: teach English to Korean children that knew none. As a teacher, using the skills that she learned from her mentor, she was offered several promotions, pay raises, and job offers within her first few months of employment.
In an effort to make get the most out of her situation, Danielle decided to apply for a better, higher paying position- actually taking her from one of the least desirable positions in the market to one of the most sought after jobs in the industry all in one year with no additional specialized education or experience. Applying the people skills learned years before, Danielle was able to make the quantum leap from the bottom to the top.
Now, Danielle works as a lecturer at a small university just outside of Seoul, South Korea. Through this move to Korea, Danielle unfortunately was not able to do business with the vendors she has used in the past, so she's updated her marketing plan and has started a business over the internet to generate the stability and extra income that is not readily available to expats working in different countries around the world. She hopes to inspire people to do the same- change their means and their outlooks through entrepreneurship and self-empowerment. Danielle lives by the wise words of her mentor Dani Johnson: Don't ask for success to be easy; ask for it to be worth it!
A spirited young entrepreneur, expatriate, and world citizen looking to leave her mark on the world.
